The proof is in the pudding: Today proves the society issues that exist within the sports world
Saturday 12.10.11
On a day where the top story on ESPN should be highlighted by RG3 winning the Heisman and his remarkable story and childhood. It is marked by a drug scandal in our national pastime and a hardwood brawl in collegiate hoops. WOW! At least ESPN moved the basketball brawl and the team with the “zip ‘em up” motto down to the middle of the show. But really, what is going on in sports today. It seems like we can’t go a week without a “negative story” or “scandal” emerging.
It’s got to change!!!! But who will step up? Who will stand alone?
I have not personally met Ryan Braun, but I know several people who know him well and they all speak of what a great guy he is and how well he represents the game of baseball. There needs to be more to this issue and I am hoping his story is a false report. He’s one of the best in the game – he the MVP of the NL.
Is it all about the bottom dollar? It sure seems to be, and those who get caught still get paid! At least as for now they do!
The most despicable part of the crosstown brawl in Cincy was the post game comments from the student-athletes. Really, come on man! That’s what it’s come to. What lessons have they learned along the way?
Mick Cronin had a great message after the game in his post game press conference, and he showed a powerful leadership stance in this moment of adversity. Now, only time will tell if his actions follow his voice. I sure hope he acts and acts BIG! He has an opportunity to make a difference with his discipline.
Congrats to RG3 and I hope he can stand up in our “sports world” and make a difference like a previous Heisman winner named Tim Tebow.
